NortimeproThe Aberconwy Park and Country Club is a 5 star luxury site in North Wales. The site boasts extensive leisure facilities including a 5 star swimming pool, spa, sauna, bar and restaurant. The coastal location provides an ideal site for luxury lodges and caravan homes. These properties are used by both permanent owners and holiday visitors. The leisure facilities are also used by the public.
Given the site's 5 star status and location, security has always been a high priority. In the past the park has operated a proximity card system with barriers at the entrance and exit. All visitors were issued with proximity cards to enter the park and were given free exit. The visitors were asked to return the cards on their exit, but in practice this did not always happen.
Nortech delivered a system called Nortimepro. This system allows flexible management of vehicle access. The system comprises of three elements: an encoder in the reception area, a ticket machine at the entry barrier and a roadside pedestal with motorised card capture reader at the exit barrier.
Permanent residents are granted entrance and exit via an automatic number plate recognition system. However this is not always effective as dirty or customised plates cannot be read and the system does not operate efficiently in poor weather conditions. Each resident is therefore issued a Nortime encoded card. When they insert their card into the pedestal, it is read and returned allowing unlimited access.
The users of the leisure facilities must take a ticket at the entry barrier. This ticket is printed with the time, date and logo. When the ticket is presented at reception, the visitor is issued with a single use card. After they have used the facilities, they insert the card into the pedestal which is captured. The driver is then free to leave and the card is stored inside the pedestal which staff can collect and use time and time again.
The holiday visitors who stay for a number of days or weeks must also take a ticket at the entry barrier. When they check in at reception they are issued with a short term card. This card is encoded to allow the visitor to enter and exit the site. Each time, their card is read at the pedestal and returned to the driver. On the last day of stay the user will insert their card but this time it is captured, allowing the driver to exit. Staff can then collect this card and use it time and time again (as either a short stay, or as a single use card).
Tim New of New Parking Solutions who installed the system stated, "the park is very up market and sophisticated and therefore required a sophisticated solution. The park is very happy with the solution".
